KOBO Thunder AXE: Control, Power and the Feel That Matters
A soft dink. A reset under pressure. A drive you commit to. The paddle you choose needs to feel right through all three.

Is Thunder AXE a paddle for control and power? KOBO positions Thunder AXE Infinity as a control-forward, all-court paddle for upper-intermediate and advanced players. Consider it if touch and placement matter to you and you supply attacking pace through your swing. It is not our recommendation for maximum effortless pop.
The feel you are choosing
A buying decision starts with the response you enjoy. Do you want the ball to spring away from a short stroke, or prefer to supply more acceleration yourself? That distinction matters more than a headline promising everything.
Think about the moments in your game: taking pace off an incoming drive, keeping a dink low, then accelerating into an opening. Thunder AXE is worth exploring when touch is central to that pattern and you want to understand its response before committing.
What is different about Thunder AXE?
KOBO’s published design combines an 18mm DuraCore, a raw 3K carbon face with SoftPlex, three air channels and thermoformed unibody construction.
The channels are designed to lessen air resistance. The core, surface and construction work together around KOBO’s intended touch and handling profile. These are manufacturer design descriptions; they do not establish how every player will experience the paddle.

What do players say about its feel?
In his full Thunder AXE player review, Jim Palmer discusses contact sound, movement through his swing and handling in windy conditions after approximately three months of play. Watch the full account to hear his own perspective. The video is published by KOBO and describes one player’s experience.
Independent reviewer Taylor Gervais at Pickleheads rated control 10/10 and spin 9.5/10, while rating power and forgiveness 7/10. He praised the soft-game response and maneuverability, but wanted more power and found off-center contact challenging.
Those differences help you make a better purchase. Read what each player liked and found difficult, rather than treating a score or a testimonial as a promise of your own results.

Buying Thunder AXE online: start with feel
You cannot feel the paddle through a screen. What you can do is listen for specific descriptions of contact, rebound and the transition from a soft shot to an attack.
Use the paddle you already know as your reference: which response do you enjoy, and which do you want to change? Relate that to the player accounts above. If you still have a question about the feel, ask KOBO before ordering.
Thunder AXE belongs on your shortlist if you value touch and placement alongside a committed attacking swing. If your first priority is easy power from compact strokes or maximum forgiveness on mishits, explore the paddle comparison guide before deciding.
Questions before you buy
Can a control paddle still support attacking play?
Yes, but control and maximum pop are different priorities. KOBO positions Thunder AXE for an all-court game in which the player contributes acceleration. Your technique and contact affect the result.
How can I understand the feel without trying it?
Watch the full player review and compare its descriptions with the response of your current paddle. Reviews help you assess fit; they cannot reproduce the sensation in your hand.
Where do I buy Thunder AXE?
